Offshore wind is creating some of the largest infrastructure projects in the world with a potential UK market investment of over £100 billion over the next decade.
In conjunction with The Crown Estate, SEEDA, EnviroBusiness and the Department of Energy and Climate Change are hosting a FREE Offshore Wind event aimed at raising awareness of the opportunities that will be created by the planned growth of the offshore wind industry. The event will also provide networking opportunities to help companies in the South East win new business.
About Offshore Wind in the South East & Round 3 Leasing Programme
The development and deployment of offshore wind is vital to the UK’s ambitious renewable energy targets over the next decade and the Government has made it a high priority. The Crown Estate’s Round 3 leasing programme is a major initiative to deliver 25GW (gigawatts) from offshore wind by 2020. (Rounds 1 & 2, already underway, are scheduled to deliver 8GW.) This will mean a total of at least 5,000 turbines being installed in UK waters over the next decade.
This programme will create significant opportunities for a wide range of companies such as port owners, vessel builders and operators, engineering companies, steel fabricators, environmental surveyors and consultancies.
One of a series of regional events being held to mark the beginning of the development phase of the Round 3 windfarm leases, this event provides businesses with an invaluable opportunity to:
