Grants to grow your recycling and reprocessing capacity

  
***** The 2008 Invest in Recycling grant competition is CLOSED for applications. *****
Through the 2008 Invest in Recycling competition, businesses can apply for grants to procure recycling equipment to both generate value and divert material from landfill. The grants can cover up to 50% of the costs for new equipment up to a maximum grant value of £134,000, helping deliver waste management plans and enable service providers to grow and manage difficult waste streams. The equipment must be operated in the South East region and be ordered by 31st March 2009.
Prefered activities are those seeking to manage:
Construction and Demolition waste (not primarily aggregates or soil)  Food Waste
(non-agricultural) 
Waste Wood  Innovative Reprocessing and Recycling Solutions 

 


Grants will be award competively, with each application assessed for:
·          Relative to the amount of grant support requested, the amount of:                   
           >
Waste diverted from landfill; 
    >Virgin raw materials saved;
    >Cost
savings to business;
·          The innovation and ambition of the project;
·          The co-investment level of the applicant;
·          The need of the grant fund to make the investment financially viable, i.e. not self-financeable;
·          The viability of the proposed investment. 

These grants are financed by SEEDA, the South East England Development Agency, and eligible equipment must be operated in the South East England as defined at http://www.seeda.co.uk/Contact_Us/Locations/. 

This initiative is being coordinated with WRAP and other providers of support for recycling businesses.

4 31 October 2008 Deadline for applications. To make an application you will need to complete and submit together:
1) This application form (PART A)
2) The cashflow spreadsheet (PART B)
3) Supporting documentation as requested in this form 
5 1 December 2008 Anticipated date of competition results
6 31 March 2009 Grants awarded must be claimed before 31 March 2009, with supporting evidence of orders placed for new equipment.

1 The economic region of South East England covers the county and unitary authority areas of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex. The region includes 12 unitary authorities and 55 district/borough councils.
