EnviroBusiness has launched a set of services to tackle the impasse to bringing innovative technologies to market. The aim is to overcome the classic barriers to the above - namely that corporates find it hard to engage with small innovative companies whose technologies are not yet fully proven and that do not have a track record with customers. Likewise, small companies find it hard to establish credibility and raise investment in such scenarios.
EnviroBusiness is introducing environmental innovative SMEs in the sector to larger corporates with the aim of overcoming these hurdles. The idea is to involve the corporate with a technology’s development from a very early stage but in a way that avoids it taking too much risk. From the corporate’s point of view, it gets access to a technology before it reaches the market and can test prototypes once certain development milestones have been achieved giving it a competitive advantage for the future. The SME gets support from the corporate in the form of feedback on its product and use of test facilities. The credibility given to the SME through its partnership with a corporate can also be crucial in raising funds.
