On 9th May 2007 Energise developed an briefing event with the DTI Technology Programme to promote the Spring 2007 competition for projects and develop new projects and new partnerships interested in applying for funding. The event covered:
o Details of the Spring 07 call
o Case studies from previous successful applicants
o Support for Energy Innovation in the South East
o Agreeing partners contractual terms - use of the Lambert Agreements
More than 50 attendees benefited from short, sharp delivery of facts, processes and experience and advice followed by great networking.
On 21 February 2007 businesses, academics and investors gathered at the Energise ‘Support for Energy Entrepreneurs’ event to find out more about the public and private support available to new and growing businesses.
More than 80 individuals, primarily SMEs in the energy sector, received a short overview of each support scheme and then had the event turned over to them - to network with the speakers and their peers, to find out more about schemes available, relevant research expertise and to investigate new business opportunities.
"From the University's perspective, the most useful aspect of the Energise event was the opportunity to meet an excellent external network of contacts who were pre-qualified in both their willingness and capability to work with the region's knowledge base and had appropriate expectations of what such interaction could deliver".
David Woolley, Business Manager, University of Southampton
"Overall an excellent event, neatly targeted and good for both making new contacts and reinforcing existing ones".
David Sharman, Ampair
The event saw the launch of the Energise "Sources of Assistance" Guide - a compendium of available schemes to support:
- Starting up a business or setting up a spin-out organisation
- Managing Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
- Research and Development
- Business growth
