Regenatec is a multi-award winning biofuel technology company that specialises in the design, development & supply of proprietary biofuel engine conversion technology and related fuel science. The technology allows diesel engines to operate from sustainably produced pure plant oil (PPO) and thus achieve compelling cost and carbon advantages over diesel and biodiesel, with a reduction of over 70% in the carbon footprint of a modified vehicle.
Current UK customers include WS Atkins plc, Accord Group plc, SITA plc plus bus companies and local authorities.
Regenatec has more recently formed a joint venture with CleanStar of India known as RegenaStar. CleanStar has extensive has extensive experience in the cultivation of non-food oil trees such as Jatropha and Pongamia. The focus is on superior planting material that is able to produce commercially viable yields on degraded and marginal land. This is being done in conjunction voluntarily with an NGO to ensure the highest levels or transparency and ethics. CleanStar themselves have won a number of awards for the sustainability and ethics of their methodology.
The JV is designed to take Regenatec's technology into India to address the early-adopting corporate market that is embarrassed at the carbon footprint of its operation and is looking for a low carbon alternative to diesel and biodiesel to fuel generators. Large captive power gensets will be converted to operate on ethically produced non-food oils, allowing corporate customers to achieve CSR objectives, lower fuel bills and a substantially lower carbon energy supply.
RegenaStar was voted onto the Guardian Library House Hot 100 CleanTech Companies in Europe listing in October 2008. |
